Anne was born in Edinburgh, Scotland.
She studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, specializing in Illustration and Printmaking, completing her degree in 1977.
In 1995 Anne graduated with a Master of Arts (Fine Arts Painting) by Research La Trobe University Bendigo.
In 1977 Anne emigrated to Australia and commenced her academic career lecturing at University of Southern Queensland. She moved to Wagga Wagga in 1981 working at Charles Sturt University before returning to Scotland 1983 - 1987 where she established an Art Gallery in Peebles.
Anne returned to Ballarat in 1987 and continued her lecturing role at University of Ballarat. She retired from her position Senior Lecturer, Undergraduate Course Coordinator in 2010.
In 2013 Anne moved to Daylesford with artist husband Doug Wright, where they continued their practice at their architect designed studio house.
They offered support to the arts in and around the Daylesford region, participating in Daylesford and Macedon Ranges Open Studios (DMROS), and sponsoring ARTOBER bringing together a range of arts events in Hepburn Shire..
Anne has had over 20 solo exhibitions and contributed to over 50 group exhibitions. She has been a finalist in juried exhibitions. These exhibitions have taken place in Australia, Singapore, New Zealand and the U.K. Her work is in private and public collections
Anne’s painting positions itself within the dichotomy of Scotland and Australia, embracing colour, pattern, repetitive mark making and varying surface interactions with a firm commitment to abstraction.
In 2022 Anne moved to Geelong and has established a studio there.
Anne has had over 20 solo exhibitions with 10 of those accompanied by exhibition publications. She have contributed to over 50 group exhibitions and been a finalist in juried exhibitions many times throughout my professional career. These exhibitions have taken place in Australia, Singapore, New Zealand and the U.K.
In more recent years she has enjoyed residencies with WASPS (Working Artists Studio Provision Scotland) and exhibiting my works in Edinburgh and Newburgh.
